A piece that walks the line between painting and sculpture, playing with the intermingling of two dimensional and three dimensional language. Tarmac Snack is an exploration of contradictory elements; the black circle is at once an object, and a stand in for a void or hole. The fence-like structure appears to disappear off into its depths, playing illusory and real space against one another. Different rules apply in this world; a record folds out to reveal another portal, there is no definite up or down, as gravity appears to be acting upon the forms in every direction. The circle seems to hang on its thin black line, but the white and mint fence anchors it to the floor.
