Excelsior Logs in the Meat Field

2016
Cardboard, foam, caulk, excelsior logs, broom, plastic netting, red wool, black tarpaulin, fan, yellow welding screen, pallets

An installation created specifically for a solarium. This piece utilises a range of curious found objects, many of them from a construction site setting.

The light is a key element in this installation, and the piece changes as the position of the sun shifts throughout the day. In the morning the light illuminates the welding screen strung across the windows, casting yellow light over the red meat field and creating a glowing yolk at the centre of the white form impaled on a broom.

Excelsior Logs in the Meat Field celebrates offhand beauty in everydayness, and takes utilitarian objects to absurd new places.
