Uncharting

2018
Rust dyed fabric, wire, medical fiberglass, paint, river artefacts, orange peel, sandpaper, bicycle tires, burlap, concrete, green foil fringe, found objects.

An installation made while in residence at Vermont Studio Center. Uncharting is a piece that oscillates between past, present and future states. The hanging grids reference construction fencing, but seem almost archaic; rusted by time or alluding to animal hide. The artefacts, all found in the nearby river, are ambiguous in that nothing is known about their age or origins. Arranged in a non-hierarchical fashion along orange mesh 2×4’s, they appear to float through the space as though borne along on rafts.
